Our Caregivers

Our caregivers are reliable, experienced, and passionate people who view caregiving as a true vocation. All caregivers are skill-assessed and matched to clients based on their level of experience, education, and certifications. Many of our live-in caregivers hold a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent thereof. For all caregivers, success is measured by the ability to form a bond with each client while providing a comprehensive, personalized service. In addition to thorough background checks, PHC caregivers are chosen because they are kind, well-rounded, and caring professionals.

What has set PHC apart from our inception is our commitment to caregivers. We want constant, sometimes daily, communication between Care Coordinators and caregivers. PHC provides resources and training based on each clients’ specific needs. Our commitment doesn’t end with home office support. Caregivers are enrolled in conferences, seminars, and various gathers offered by hospitals, local universities, and other institutions. From Alzheimer’s disease to coping with arthritis, these educational gatherings, combined with ongoing training, help ensure our caregivers stay on top of the most current information available.

I have 12 years of experience as a caregiver. I love my job. It makes me feel like I am making a true difference in the life of someone while I become close to that person and learn everything there is to know about them. It is incredible for me to have an opportunity to spend all day with someone, plan activities, and see that person living life to the fullest before my eyes. I cared for my last client for 5 years. I felt like I became part of her family, just like she became a part of mine. Prior to becoming a caregiver, I was an English language high school teacher in Varna, Bulgaria after graduated with a masters of education in 1986. I am fluent in Bulgarian, English, and Spanish. I am also proficient in French.”

“I have 3 years of experience as an hourly caregiver. This is more than a job for me because I have experienced first hand the impact of inadequate care when my own grandmother was placed in a nursing home when I turned 12. When I look back, I am sure she would have preferred staying in her own home, surrounded by the people and things she knew best. Also, had a service like this been available, the financial strain on my own family wouldn’t have been so great. Because of this, I want to continue doing this type of work.”
